This Disclaimer applies to lexregister.com and lexcircuit.com, their subdomains, RSS feeds, newsletters, social media accounts, and any application programming interface or other service that Jake Team LLC makes available in connection with them (together, the “Sites”). The Sites are owned and operated by Jake Team LLC, a Texas limited liability company (“Jake Team,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This Disclaimer is incorporated into and forms part of our Terms of Service. By accessing or using the Sites you accept this Disclaimer in full. If you do not accept it, do not use the Sites.

The Sites publish news summaries and long-form reporting about legal technology, the regulation of artificial intelligence and related fields, court orders, bar ethics opinions, academic research, and the companies operating in those markets. Everything on the Sites is provided for general informational and news purposes only.

Nothing on the Sites is legal advice, and nothing on the Sites should be relied on as legal advice. The content is not tailored to any person’s circumstances, is not a substitute for advice from a lawyer licensed in the relevant jurisdiction, and does not account for the facts of any particular matter. Laws, rules, standing orders, ethics opinions and regulatory guidance change frequently and vary by jurisdiction; a story that was accurate when published may no longer be accurate when you read it.

No attorney-client relationship. Your use of the Sites, your subscription to any newsletter, and any communication you send to us (including tips, corrections requests and contact-form messages) do not create an attorney-client relationship, a fiduciary relationship, or any other professional relationship between you and Jake Team, its members, managers, employees, contractors, contributors or editors. Do not send us information that you consider confidential or privileged. Communications with us are not protected by the attorney-client privilege or the work-product doctrine. Our handling of news sources is described in Section 6.4 of the Terms of Service and Section 4 of the Privacy Policy.

2. Contributors act for Jake Team only

The Sites are published by Jake Team LLC. Any individual who writes, edits, reviews or otherwise contributes to the Sites does so solely on behalf of Jake Team, and not on behalf of, or as a representative of, any employer, law firm, company, bar association, court, government body, academic institution or other organization with which that individual is or has been affiliated. No content on the Sites represents the views, positions or policies of any such organization, and no such organization has reviewed, approved or endorsed any content on the Sites.

3. Summaries of third-party reporting

The Sites summarize developments that have been reported by third-party news outlets, courts, regulators, companies, academic authors and other sources. Each story lists its sources and links to them.

  • We do not independently verify every fact reported by every source. Where sources disagree, we say so; where they agree, we report what they agree on.
  • We are not responsible for the accuracy, completeness or currency of any third-party source, and linking to a source is not an endorsement of it.
  • The linked primary source governs. For any court order, statute, regulation, ethics opinion, filing or official document, the official text controls over any summary on the Sites. Always consult the primary source before acting.
  • Figures such as funding amounts, valuations, headcounts, penalty amounts and dates are reported as stated by the sources listed and may be estimates, rounded, disputed or subsequently revised.

4. Artificial intelligence in our editorial process

Stories on the Sites are drafted with the assistance of artificial-intelligence systems and reviewed by a human editor before publication. Our editorial process is described on the AI & Editorial Standards page.

AI systems can misread sources, omit context, misstate numbers and generate text that appears authoritative but is wrong. Human review reduces, but does not eliminate, that risk. We do not warrant that any AI-assisted content is accurate, complete or free of error. If you identify an error, please report it through the Corrections process; we will review it and, where warranted, correct or retract the story with a dated notice.

5. No warranties; accuracy not guaranteed

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE SITES AND ALL CONTENT ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING ANY WARRANTY OF ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, TIMELINESS, RELIABILITY, MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SITES WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE OR ERROR-FREE, THAT DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED, OR THAT THE SITES OR THE SERVERS THAT MAKE THEM AVAILABLE ARE FREE OF VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS.

Any reliance you place on content published on the Sites is strictly at your own risk. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so some of the above exclusions may not apply to you.

6. Limitation of liability

YOUR USE OF, AND RELIANCE ON, THE SITES AND ANY CONTENT IS AT YOUR OWN RISK. THE LIABILITY OF JAKE TEAM LLC AND THE OTHER JAKE TEAM PARTIES (AS DEFINED IN THE TERMS OF SERVICE) FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SITES OR ANY CONTENT, INCLUDING ANY PROFESSIONAL LIABILITY, MALPRACTICE CLAIM, SANCTION, FILING DEFECT, MISSED DEADLINE OR ADVERSE OUTCOME, IS EXCLUDED AND LIMITED AS SET OUT IN SECTION 13 OF OUR TERMS OF SERVICE, WHICH APPLIES TO THIS DISCLAIMER AS IF SET OUT IN FULL HERE.

7. Not financial, investment or professional advice

Stories about funding rounds, valuations, acquisitions, public companies, market share or business performance are news reporting only. Nothing on the Sites is investment, financial, tax, accounting, insurance, procurement or other professional advice, and nothing on the Sites is an offer, solicitation or recommendation to buy, sell or hold any security, product or service. Consult an appropriately licensed professional before making any financial or purchasing decision.

8. No endorsement; vendor names and marks

The Sites report on companies, products, courts, regulators and individuals. Mention of any person, organization, product or service is not an endorsement, recommendation, certification or guarantee, and no such person or organization has endorsed the Sites unless we expressly say so.

Vendor names, product names, logos and other marks that appear on the Sites are the property of their respective owners. They are used solely for identification in news reporting, without affiliation, sponsorship or endorsement. Their appearance does not imply any relationship between the owner and Jake Team. Owners of a mark who have a concern about its use may contact us at the address in Section 12.

9. Advertising and sponsored content

The Sites may display advertising and may publish sponsored or paid content. Advertising and sponsored content will be labeled as such. Advertisers and sponsors have no influence over our editorial content. We are not responsible for the content of any advertisement or for the products, services or claims of any advertiser or sponsor, and any dealings you have with an advertiser are solely between you and that advertiser.

The Sites link to third-party websites, documents and services, including source articles, court dockets, regulator websites and vendor websites. Those resources are not under our control. We are not responsible for their content, accuracy, availability, privacy practices or security, and a link is not an endorsement. Your use of any third-party resource is governed by that third party’s terms and policies and is at your own risk.

11. Corrections, retractions and takedown requests

We take accuracy seriously. A corrected story keeps its address and displays a dated notice describing what changed. A retracted story is withdrawn from the feed but remains at its address, with the reason stated, so that links continue to resolve. Both appear in the Corrections log.

To report an error, request a correction, or request removal of content, email info@jaketeam.com with the story address and the basis for your request. We will review every request in good faith. Because the Sites report on matters of public interest, we do not remove accurate reporting on request, and the availability of a correction or takedown is at our sole editorial discretion, subject to applicable law. Intellectual-property complaints should follow the copyright-complaint procedure in our Terms of Service.

14. Relationship to other terms

This Disclaimer supplements, and is incorporated into, our Terms of Service and should be read together with our Privacy Policy and AI & Editorial Standards. If there is a conflict between this Disclaimer and the Terms of Service, the Terms of Service control.
